Dr. Basanta Chaudhuri, Dr. Yanhong Jin (panelist), Dr. Sonal Pandey, and Dr. Isaac Vellangany attended the 2025 Rutgers Active Learning Symposium (RALS) to learn about and share pedagogic practices in teaching.
As one of 13 Co-Intelligence Exploration Teaching Fellows of 2024-2025 at Rutgers, Dr. Jin’s fellow project, “GenAI-Infused Class Activities: Using ChatGPT as a Tool to Explore Food Justice,” aims to deepen students’ understanding of food equity issues, enhance their research skills, and foster solution-oriented critical thinking. Students will explore food justice issues and factors affecting equitable access to nutritious food. Using ChatGPT, they will not only investigate specific issues, generate insights, and propose actionable solutions to promote food justice, but also evaluate the use of ChatGPT in their active learning. Dr. Jin join the other teaching fellows for the panel discussion, titled “Generative Artificial Intelligence and Students’ Skill Development,” at RALS.

The Rutgers Active Learning Symposium (RALS) is a day of discussions, presentations, panels, and workshops relating to various topics in active learning. The 2025 edition of the annual Symposium was an opportunity for faculty and staff at Rutgers and beyond to come together to share and learn pedagogic practices in this exciting area. https://dcs.rutgers.edu/events/2025-rutgers-active-learning-symposium-2025-05-22
